If you plan to take a road trip through Florida, Destin is one of the places you really shouldn’t miss! This small beach town, located at the Florida panhandle is most popular during the spring ; however, it’s really a four-season travel destination. Between the countless outdoor activities, stunning beach views, and the adorable shopping district, you can’t beat Destin Beach for a romantic getaway or a family vacation.

In this article, I’ll review the best things to do in Destin, including top sights, beaches to visit, breweries, and more. Additionally, I’ll list the best hotels in town so you can make sure to book centrally-located accommodations. Note that lodging does fill up quickly during the high seasons in Destin. So, remember to book a place to stay in advance!

1. Henderson Beach State Park

Going to the beach is an absolute given when looking for things to do in Destin, Florida and Henderson Beach State Park is easily one of the most beautiful parts of Destin. You can do so much here such as lying in the sun, going for a swim, and even camping for a night or two if that’s your kind of thing. This park is also big enough that you can definitely find a spot for just you and your family, away from other guests. Although there are other beaches in Destin I highly recommend Henderson Beach State Park as a must-see!

2. Dolphin Sunset Cruise

Need I say more? When in Destin, you have to sail away during the sunset and get a glimpse at the dolphins. You’ll be able to see dolphins living in their natural environment and enjoy the ocean sunset views around you. This did not happen to me but if you’re really lucky, the dolphins will even swim up close to your boat! A dolphin cruise would be a great idea for a romantic night out between a couple!

3. Crab Island

If you’re craving a day of total relaxation, sun, and good vibes then Crab Island is something you have to do when in Destin. You can either rent or take your own boat out to Crab Island and even take advantage of the many “floating” attractions. Crab Island once was just that but due to years of erosion and hurricanes, it is now an underwater sandbar perfect to anchor a boat and have some fun!

Nothing like an aerial view to allow you to truly appreciate the place you’re visiting. I would rank. a helicopter tour as one of the most romantic things you can do, especially when a lot of your view are the beautiful Destin beaches.

Although there are several things to do at HarborWalk Adventures, I’d say that their zip-lining and 100 feet free fall will give you some of the best thrills and views of the Gulf of Mexico!

Sure, you can get a couple’s massage just about anywhere but whenever I travel, I like to do what I can to support the local businesses. When I was in Destin, I had one of the best 60-minute deep-tissue couple’s massage and the employee’s took their time and were super friendly!

7. Enjoy Tasty Seafood at Lulu’s

Being just off the Gulf of Mexico, Destin definitely has some amazing seafood spots to try out. I visited Lulu’s and although the wait was long as this is a popular tourist and family spot, the seafood was extremely delicious and you’re able to get views of the water. Here you can get good food, music, cocktails, and even vegetarian and allergy-friendly menu items.

8. Shop at Destin Commons

Destin Commons is an outdoor shopping mall with great stores and casual dining. I was able to indulge in some much-needed shopping for myself right when they opened to avoid the crowds.

If you’re visiting Destin with your family your kids will definitely thank you for taking them to this Arcade. Even though its located within Miramar, Florida, this amusement place is one of the best small chain arcades I’ve been too. Even if you don’t have kids you are bound to have a great time either playing laser tag or one of the many different arcade games. As a bonus, there is a tasty ice cream shop right next to Thrills.

10. Boogies Watersports

Experiencing thrilling activities on the water is a must when vacationing in Destin, Florida. Boogies Watersports will serve as a great break between all the swimming you’ll do in Destin. You and your loved one can experience the magic of parasailing, or rent their jet skis and race through the beach.

Located on the Emerald Coast, this family-friendly facility is a perfect place to go if you want a brief pause between the Destin beaches.
