Quarantine 2020 truly made me feel like I was living in an episode of a television show on HGTV. I kept busy by upgrading many objects and rooms in my home such as improving my air quality by becoming a plant mom, painting my living room and bathroom walls, and upgrading my furniture.
If you’re looking into ways to keep up your home check out there great tips to improve and upgrade your home this summer!
Create a Gallery Wall
Interior improvements to your home can be some of the easiest ways to see a quick improvement and get a different vibe for the new season! I always find gallery walls to be a glimpse into the homeowner’s personality. Some play with colorful artwork, others give a peak into family life by hanging family portraits. My personal gallery wall I created in my living room consist of motivational quotes that mean a lot to my boyfriend and I. You can even create gallery walls from objects you already own.
Upgrade Your Outdoor Deck
It’s important to check off many boxes when improving your deck space. One of the first things to consider is the safety of your deck. Especially if you have young children and pets. Before anything major is done, I recommend just simply inspecting your deck for yourself. How’s the floor? How does everything hold up? Can this take multiple people on it?
This is where Brazilian Wood Depot comes in handy! Located in Atlanta, GA this highly recommended business can assist with all of your deck maintenance and repairs. They specifically specialize in Brazilian Hardwoods for Decking, Siding, and Flooring. What caught my eye is that their lumber is all natural with absolutely no kind of harmful chemicals that are bad for our environment. This means all of my deck plants can thrive without being harmed by the wood.
Another one of their specialties, Massaranduba Decking has a durability of over 40 years and is extremely versatile in style and color.
Become a Plant Parent
It’s no secret that many plants thrive during the summer! This season is often said to be one of the best times to grow plants. Look into some hard-to-kill plants to purchase if you’re a new planter and not only are they a mood booster but can also improve the quality of air. Here are some of my favorite summer plants for houseplants.
· Aloe plant
· Snake plant
· Bamboo plant
· Begonias
· Peace Lily
· Fiddle Leaf
Change the Drapes
Winter drapes are perfect for keeping the area warm and giving privacy but when it’s summer, it is time for a change! I like my drapes to be light and airy to bring in that perfect amount of natural sunlight! Sheer curtains are typically a great option in wanting privacy with sunlight.
Rearrange the Furniture
Since everyone moves different around their homes in changing seasons rearranging the furniture is essential in getting your home ready for the summer. I like to start off by creating a well-functioning and practical environment in spaces I frequent most. I find myself doing yoga in the living during the summertime so this month I moved around my couches to accommodate my yoga mat.
Painting Project
Painting can take a lot of hard work. It is something I recommend taking on if you have help. However, once you get started, the journey is amazing! If your walls were like mine they eventually started to show some wear and tear from the winter months. I knew I wanted to brighten up a few walls and rooms in my home and went to my local Lowes to pick some colors out.
I find a painting project to be perfect for the summer because you have more time to work at your own pace and it can be a great bonding project for whoever helps you with the painting.
Cleaning Overload
If you’re like myself and didn’t finish your spring cleaning then this task will be a perfect way to prepare your living space for the summer. The best ways to thoroughly clean is by going in sections. Take the time to get rid of everything that doesn’t serve value in your life and don’t be afraid to part with it. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure! Working in steps on summer cleaning will help keep everything organized and prevent burnout!
Summer home improvement is important in ensuring your home’s maintenance and working on passion projects to fuel your creativity. Let me know which summer home improvements you plan to start and what tips you found helpful.
